Embracing Imperfect Sustainability: The Mission of Broken Planet
Founded in 2020, Broken Planet is a streetwear brand with a global presence, headquartered in the United Kingdom. Since its establishment, this direct-to-consumer (D2C) enterprise has garnered a substantial following, boasting over 250,000 customers worldwide and a million followers across various social media platforms.
The creative visionaries behind Broken Planet are Lukas Žvikas and Indrė Narbutaitė, both hailing from Lithuania. Influenced by the realms of Hip Hop culture and the mysteries of outer space, they infuse their designs and silhouettes with unique inspirations, setting their brand apart in the fashion landscape.
In January the brand had a capsule dubbed "Out Of Service," this collection pays homage to the distinctive puff print typography that defines the London-based label, while also introducing fresh additions that signify the brand's evolution.
Among the standout pieces is a meticulously crafted washed work wear jacket, featuring a quilted lining and adorned with bespoke BP patches. Complementing this are new pullovers and T-shirt designs, seamlessly aligning with the overarching theme of the collection. Additionally, beloved classics such as the "Into The Abyss" hoodie and the dark brown fleece, initially introduced in "Black Soot" late last December, make a welcomed return. To complete the ensemble, a range of accessories including beanies and a keychain add the finishing touches.
The launch of "Out Of Service" follows Broken Planet's recent collaboration with UK rap sensation D-Block Europe. This partnership, highlighted by a limited-edition T-shirt and album bundle, sent shockwaves through the fanbase, catapulting the group to the top spot on the UK albums chart with their Rolling Stone LP. Not only did this collaboration showcase Broken Planet's widespread appeal, but it also demonstrated the brand's seamless integration into the music industry landscape.
In a world where the pursuit of perfection often paralyzes progress, Broken Planet stands as a beacon of imperfect sustainability. In a recent statement, the brand challenges the notion that sustainability must be flawless, asserting that imperfect action from millions is more impactful than perfection from a few.
Central to Broken Planet's ethos is their commitment to sustainability in every aspect of their operations. From design to production, every decision is made with environmental responsibility in mind. The brand refuses to compromise on ethics for the sake of expediency, opting for organic and recycled fabrics produced under fair labor conditions.
Broken Planet has new capsule release this week titled "Broken Hearts" - be sure to keep an eye out.
