Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1'86
Following the successful revival of the Air Max 1 '86 OG in 2023, Nike has now partnered with high-fashion label Jacquemus to introduce a refreshing take on this iconic silhouette. This collaboration follows a series of exciting Air Max 1 '86 OG variants, including a recent tribute to baseball legend Jackie Robinson and the upcoming retro of the Royal colorway.
The Jacquemus x Nike Air Max 1 '86 OG collaboration blends Nike's sportswear heritage and Jacquemus' high-fashion sensibilities. The pack introduces three distinct colorways - Metallic Silver, White, and University Red - offering a fresh perspective on Tinker Hatfield's original design.
The Metallic Silver version exhibits a slightly altered upper, with modifications to the toe area for a streamlined look. The shoe features a mesh base and shiny leather rendered in a striking metallic silver. This futuristic aesthetic is complemented by a mini Swoosh on the midfoot, echoing the style of the J Force 1. The collaboration is marked by Jacquemus' subtle yet impactful branding, visible on an elegant hang tag, the insole, and the heel overlay.
The White colorway, on the other hand, showcases a more traditional approach with a luxurious twist. Suede is thoughtfully employed for the mudguard, while white leather forms the base. Adding perforations on the midfoot and toe enhances the texture and depth of the design. The redesigned Air Max 1 '86 midsole is a notable feature of both colorways. For this collaboration, the midsole’s Air unit assumes a more prominent, rectangular shape, offering a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic Air Max cushioning.
Finally, a third pair was revealed when Jacquemus unveiled the entire collection, a University Red colorway. This pair takes on an all-over red finish with suede on the mudguard, patent leather on the heel, and mesh for the base. Like the other pairs, the midsole features a retooled Air unit and a custom outsole traction pattern splitting Jacquemus branding and Nike branding between the left and right sneakers, respectively.
